The 8th All Ateneo Convention, Chicago, July 3-6, 2008

On behalf of Ateneans USA, host to the 8th All Ateneo Convention on July 3-6, 2008 at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, I am inviting you, the officers, and members of the AAAMWDC.

The organizers of this year’s have tried to make this convention enjoyable and worthwhile for the participants. We are encouraging Ateneans to invite their friends and classmates to join them in the convention and have sort of get-together or a mini-reunion. During the Fellowship Night (oras ng pabidahan at payabangan), we ask for group participation para mas masaya. We have arranged a good golf tournament for the avid golfers and several tours of Chicago for the non-golfers.

In this convention, we have two new initiatives that we hope would be part of future all Ateneo conventions. We have launched the search and recognition of Outstanding Ateneans Overseas (OAO) to give recognition to the good work of Ateneans in various fields. We would like all Ateneans to participate in this search for OAO by nominating Ateneans that know are outstanding. The various award categories as well as the procedure for nomination. The deadline for nomination has been extended to May 1, 2008. All these are found in the convention website.

The other initiative is our proposal to coordinate the various Ateneo Alumni Associations in North America. We are proposing the nationalization of these AAA in order that Ateneans will get to know each and work together for the common good. This will be one of the topics for the workshop. I would like to invite you and your officers to participate in our discussion.

One way other Ateneans will get to know your association is to put a full page ads in the souvenir program. You can send a group picture and the names of your officers. This is also one way your group can help us financially. The form for ads in our souvenir program can be found in the convention website.
