September 1988 - Washington DC area Ateneans formally organize Ateneo Alumni Association of Metropolitan Washington DC. First election of officers held. Standing committees formed. Constitution and bylaws adopted. Official logo adopted.
October 1988 - Ateneo Alumni Association’s Support Committee for the Jaime V. Ongpin (HS’54, BS’58) Institute plays key role in Organizing the Philippine-American Support Committee for the Jaime V. Ongpin Institute, Inc. (PASCO-JVO) based in Washington, D. C.
October 11-12, 1988 - Association officers and members help organize dinner receptions formally launching PASCO-JVO at the Philippine Embassy residence of Ambassador Emmanuel Pelaez (HS’32).
Association members participate in annual fair of Assumption Alumnae Association at MissionHurst in Arlington, Virginia.
May 20, 1989 - Induction of officers and dinner reception held at Ramada Hotel in Bethesda, Maryland. Ambassador Emmanuel Pelaez and Minister Raul Rabe (LLB’64) among those in attendance. Maiden issue of Blue on the Hill newsletter rolls off the press.
November, 1988 - Christmas Package Drive for the poor held at Tonggie Sevilla’s (HS’49) residence in Vienna, Virginia.
June 1989 - AAA MWDC actively participates in week-long Philippine Independence day festivities.
June 6, 1989 - Association co-sponsors forum on Multilateral Assistance Initiative to Philippines at Capital Hilton Hotel.
July 14, 1989 - Lecture by Fr. Pat Giordano, S.J. of Ateneo de Davao on Challenge of Faith in the Philippines at the I Bldg. of the World Bank followed by book signing
August 14, 1989 - Sports committee organizes basketball competitions at Wakefield Recreation Center in Fairfax, Virginia.
August, 1989 - Association spearheads gala ball and auction for benefit of Washington DC chapter of Philippine-American Support Committee for the Jaime V. Ongpin Institute.
November 6, 1989 - Forum on Human Rights and Morality by Fr. James B. Reuter, S.J. and on Philippine Culture, History & Tradition by Alejandro Roces (GS’37, HS’40, Honoris Cause’96) at AFSCME Conference Room.
November 8-10, 1989 - DC Ateneo Alumni Association actively participates in the preparations for state visit of President Cory Aquino (Honoris Causa’86) in Washington, D. C.
November 18, 1989 - Annual Christmas Package Drive for poor held at Casa Sevilla in Vienna, VA.
March 1990 - Ateneo Law School Moot Court Team takes part in international moot court competitions at Mayflower Hotel. Ateneans host team members and provide moral support.
May 3, 1990 - Association co-sponsors forum on Economics at George Washington University featuring noted economists and experts on Philippine economy.
May 9, 1990 - Association co-sponsors forum on Philippine economy featuring Secretary Estanislao and CB Governor Cuisia and others at Westpark Hotel in Arlington.
June 1990 - Association donates $1,000.00 to Philippine Earthquake Relief Fund of Pres. Aquino.
July 2, 1990 - Association represented by Prexy Mingging Ordoveza (GS’51, HS’55, AB’59, LLB’62) and Treasurer Mike Quintos (GS’51, HS’55, AB’59) present check of $2,500.00 to Fr. Ed Martinez S.J. (GS’50, HS’54, AB’58) and Fr. Joe Galdon S.J. at SGV lounge in Makati to augment its permanent funded scholarship. SGV partner Ninoy Buktaw (GS’57, HS’61, AB’65) was present.
Sept-Oct 1990 - Association basketball team participates in Philippine Basketball League.
October 12, 1990 - Association co-sponsors with Assumption Alumnae Quake, Rattle & Roll jam session at Grange Hall in Great Falls, Virginia for benefit of Philippine earthquake victims. Great attendance. Event grossed $4,000.00.
June 1991 - Ateneo Association basketball team joins Philippine Basketball League. Could have made playoffs were it not for injuries to key players. Blue Eagles Joseph Canlas (GS’81, HS’85, BS” ) and Dodo Martelino (HS’58, BS’62) played for Ateneo.
July 31, 1991 - Ateneans celebrate 450th anniversary of Ignatius Loyola at Gaithersburg, Maryland. Mass celebrated by Fr. Nery, S.J., followed by picnic barbecue, swimming, basketball and softball games. Ateneans donate funds to Fr. Nery’s Balikbahay project for the elderly in Hawaii.
September 10, 1991 - Co-sponsors Forum on” Media Freedom and Philippine Democracy” at JBldg., World Bank with Melinda Quintos de Jesus.
October 19, 1991 - Annual fall picnic at Olney Manor, Maryland featuring Ateneo-San Beda basketball match up won by Ateneo in a close game. Bedans eager for rematch.
April 25, 1992 - Spring soiree held at Casa Sevilla in Vienna, Virginia.
AAA donates $500 check to victims of Mount Pinatubo eruption.
Fr. Raul Bonoan, S.J., (GS’48, HS’52), President of Ateneo de Naga, talks to Ateneans from Manila and Naga about the plight of the Ateneo de Naga. In response to his call for help, AAA MWDC donates funds to Ateneo de Naga.
May 12, 1992 - Association co-sponsors Ateneo Glee Club concert at World Bank Auditorium. Fund-raising for scholarship funds and charitable undertakings. Ateneans host and entertain Glee Club members.
March 22-April 3, 1993 - Ateneans again host Ateneo Law School Moot Court team which competed in the International Moot Court Competition at the Mayflower Hotel.
May 1, 1993 - Get-together at Tonggie Sevilla’s place - Food, fun and games, sing-a-long, too.
May 21, 1993 - Leah Salonga and ADM Communications Arts Society present a Filipino Zarzuela at Marvin Center GWU Fund Raising Event. Association cooperates in event.
July 21, 1993 - Association remits $2,000.00 check through Jesuit Seminary Aid and Mission Bureau as donation to the Ateneo de Manila College Glee Club Scholarship Fund.
September 28, 1993 - Forum on Trends in Philippine Economy in World Bank’s J Bldg. Conference Room J-1-050 sponsored by World Bank/IMF Filipino Assn. attended by Ateneans. Speakers were - Central Bank Governor Gabby Singson (AA’48, LLB’52), Acting Secretary of Finance Ernest Leung (HS’57, AB’61), DBP President Bobby de Ocampo, (AB’67).
May 15, 1994 - Association donates $1,200.00 check to Endowment Fund established for Fr. Joaquin G. Bernas, S. J, (LLB’62).
June 24-27, 1994 - Association takes part in All Ateneo Convention held at the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.
July 31, 1994 - Picnic at William Hurley Park in Gaithersburg, Maryland to celebrate Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola. Fr. Ben Nebres, S.J., President of Ateneo de Manila University, concelebrates Mass with Fr. Miguel Bernad, S.J.
August 4, 1994 - Fr. Joseph Galdon, S.J., (Ateneo’s Director of Office of Admission and Aid) reports that beneficiary of our scholarship fund was Rustum D. Gevero, Freshman Management Engineering who graduated valedictorian of Xavier University HS in Cagayan de Oro.
September 1995 - Get-together with Fr. Joaquin Bernas at Ang Maynila Restaurant.

June, 1996 - Fr. Tony Samson, S. J., (HS’54, AB’58), President of Xavier University in Cagayan de Oro City celebrates Mass in the Philippine Embassy and addresses Ateneo group–including Xavier U alumni.
November 1996 - Jo Mari Chan (AB’67) Christmas Concert at the McLean Hilton - Joint Ateneo/Assumption project. Fund-raising for scholarships. Huge success.
December 5, 1996 - Ateneans attend embassy cocktail reception honoring Secretary of Foreign Affairs Raul Manglapus (GS’31, HS’35, AB’39, Honoris Causa,’65).
Fall 1997 - Ateneo DC Alumni Association contingent travels with alumnae of Assumption, Maryknoll St. Teresa’s and other girl’s colleges to New York City to take part in Alumpics in Fordham University. Basketball marathon classic with NY Ateneo Alumni Association basketball team. DC Alumnae of Assumption, Maryknoll, and other girl’s colleges compete against NY alumnae of Assumption, Maryknoll, etc. in miscellaneous sports events.
February 1998 - Embassy reception for Atenean Raul Manglapus hosted by Ambassador Raul Rabe and attended by local Ateneans.
September 26, 1998 - Apo Hiking Society, featuring Jim Paredes (GS’65, HS’69, AB’73), Danny Javier (HS’75, BS’79), and Boboy Garovillo (GS’65, HS’69, AB’73), performs at Warner Theater in Washington DC. Association plays key role in promoting show with Eastmark. Fund raising for association’s scholarship fund is a huge success.
June 13, 1999 - Association co-sponsors with World Bank Group concert presentation of Vespers - (The Jesuit Music for Meditation (’A Unique Blend of Soul-Uplifting Spiritual Music and Filipino Kundiman’) - featuring Ray Sison (GS’79, HS’83) (Flutist), and Lionel Valdellon (GS’85, HS’89, AB’93) (Guitarist), at World Bank H Bldg.
June 19, 1999 - Farewell reception tendered by the association honoring Ambassador Raul Rabe at the ceremonial hall in Riggs Library, Healy Bldg., Georgetown University.
February 11, 2002 - Report from Fr. Nemesio Que, S.J., (AB’75, MA’83), (Director of Ateneo’s Office of Admission and Aid) - Balance of AAA Washington DC Funded Scholarship remains at PHP 219,739.00. Scholarship recipient for the year was Adrian Wendel R. Serohijos (4-BSPSCE possible cum laude awardee).(The association has already funded several scholars since the Washington DC Funded Scholarship was established many years ago)
October 27, 2002 - Association organizes reception in the Philippine Chancery for Fr. Tito Caluag (GS’72, HS’76, AB’80), (Ateneo’s VP for Alumni Affairs and Development Planning) in town to promote the 150th anniversary of founding of the Ateneo and discuss future plans for the Ateneo. Highlight of the evening: viewing of championship classic between Blue Eagles and Green Archers’Eagles prevail in best of three classic match-up for the 2002 UAAP crown.
September 5, 2003 - Embassy cocktail reception tendered by Ambassador and Mrs. Albert del Rosario attended by local Ateneans in honor of Fr. Bienvenido Nebres who was designated a member of the Board of Trustees of Georgetown University.
October 9, 2003 - Latest update from Fr. Nemesio Que (Director of Office of Admission and Aid) - AAA Washington DC Scholarship fund has a balance of PHP 259,823.00. The fund currently supports Jose Malaya M. Semilla, a freshman Management Engineering major.
July 6, 2004 - Meeting at the J Bldg. of World Bank to map out future plans for the association and to nominate new set of officers. Website and database proposed. Amendments to Rules and Bylaws also proposed and adopted. Plans laid out for July 31 pot-luck get-together to commemorate the Feast of St. Ignatius. Bert Gancayco (GS’47, HS’51) offers his Potomac estate as venue for the picnic.
